After several hours of agoniziug suspense, thirty minera, inore dead than alive, came, one by one, draggi├╝g themselves through the crushed-in gangways. Many othere had fled in safety when they heard the tirst sigus of the cave-in. The escape of the minen was due to a very narrow passage-way found at one side of a gaug-way, which also admitted sufficient air to keep them alive.
