Miners Have A Close Call
Scranton, Pa., July 4.- The caving in of a large porti on of the surf ace over Bell slope in the lov.'er part, yesterday, and the report that a large nuraber of minera vvere entombed, caused intense exoitement. After several hours of agoniziug suspense, thirty minera, inore dead than alive, came, one by one, draggiüg themselves through the crushed-in gangways. Many othere had fled in safety when they heard the tirst sigus of the cave-in. The escape of the minen was due to a very narrow passage-way found at one side of a gaug-way, which also admitted sufficient air to keep them alive. The cavein affocts a arge part of the Hyde Park section of the city.
