J. W. Abbott has built a large store-room in the rear of his store. Mrs. F. J. Hammond and Miss Barbara Gable were on the sick list last week. Tedder & Klose are ready to make eider, having built a new mili last week. F. J. Hammond and J. D. O'Bnen attended the senatorial convention at Milan, Tuesday. Dan Hitchingham, who is ditching in üratiot Co., was in town Saturday and Sunday. W. D. Simonds is building a house for John Lawson on the lot across from the post-office. Meier & Stecher have been improving the appearance of their house and store with a coat of paint. F. J. Hamond raised a hickory pole with a fourteen foot streamer attached, Monday evening, and is now confident of democratie success. Some of our clemocrats attended the pole raising and speaking in Ypsnant', Tuesday afternoon and evening, and report a large attendance. Chas. Schmitt is feeling quite jubilant at present as he has securec another large contract for his char coal. He will ship about twenty car loads per month. We had a game of base ball in town last Saturday. It was impossible to tell who won as the game was called on account of the darkness at the end of the fifth inning.
