The Sophomores will have a rugby eleven. The Choral union held its first meeting Tuesday evening. The Psi U. base ball nine defeated the JJeta Theta nine last Saturday, 7 to The Senior medical class expect to visit the Fontiac Insane Asylux, shortly. To-morrow will be field day and the prospects are that it will prove a very interesting occasion. Prof.Hennequin ïsexpected to lectura on Dramatic art and Frenen, in New York, during the winter. Cari Dunder is taking a course in the Fharmacy department. He is no relation to the Uarl Dunder of Free Press fame. The literary societies last Saturday evening debated upon manual training in the public schools and England's occupation of Egypt. The young ladies of '91 gave a reception to the otlier young ladies of the department at Miss L,izzie Dean's, on Liberty street, last Friday evening. II. E. Iloffman has been elected presdent of the junior homcropathic class, Miss E. A.Cunningham,vice president and Miss E. P. Ten Eyck, secretary and reasurer. The senior pharmacy class has elected Mark Rockwell, president; Miss Julia Einanuel, vice president; A. C. Zeig, secretary and L. .1. Spenker, ;reasurer. The officers of the ünity club are León J. Richardson, president; Miss Elsie Whitman, vice president; Arthur J. Kendall, secretary and George V. Kendall, treasurer. Aniong the events of to-morrow'3 iield day will be 100, 220, 440 and 300 yard dashes, wrestüng, running long jump, 120 yard hurdle race, one mile walk, bieycle race, throwing hammer, putting shot, boxing, running high jump, pole vault, drop kick and the tug of war between '91 and '92. The games will be calledat 1:30 sharp. lhe deciding goal in the Medical foot ball rush was played last Saturday morningandthe Juniors;won in tifteen minutes. Salsbnry, '91 'won the ligUt weight wrestling match. A close sparring match toot place between Metsgei , '90 andLewis, '91, won by Metsger by a score of 57 to 55. Edwards, '90 won heavy weight sparring match and Hall won standing broad jump. THE FOOT BALL KUSII. The Freshman class won a goal in the annual foot ball game last Saturday after three hours hard work and it now looks as if they were good for the match, ïhere were 143 freshmen and 83 sophomores in line. The freshmen did the best kicking and the sophomores the best rushing. Three times the freshmen forced the ball over thesophmores goal, and three times it was declared a foul but the fourth time victory perched upon their banner. They were very jubr lant and the campus resounded witli Roo-Rah-Koo '92. The second goal will be contested a week from to-morrow, when the sophomores announce their intention to win. Til E RUGBY TEAM. Candidates for places in the rugby team are practicing every afternoon on the campus at half-past four. Material for a very fine team is being developed . Our rugby boys havenever been defeated and from the way they are getting into shape this fall it looks as if the team would be an almost invincible one. They are now practicin? for the Thanksgiving games. Several places are under consideration where these games will be played. Notre Dame has a good team and wishes to play the University at Chicago. The Detroit athletic club has a Ivery strong team, made up of graduates of the Eastera colleges, who are old. rugby p'ayers of experience. They are heavier than the University team and ia case it ís desicled to play with thern, the games will undoubtedly be close.
