T a table fairly groaning under everythint; that's good That yon or I could think of In the catalogue of food; There sat a happy , family, as jolly as i could be, To celébrate giving day with due festlvity. The boys, with mouths wlde open, kcpt their cyB upon the tray, Ab if the turkey on tt would spread wings and fly away; The while the girls sat up quite straight, thelr dijnity in hand, And by their prim example gave the boys a reprimand. But such a shining gobbler, with bis drumsticks in the air. Would make a Caesterfleld unquict , forget hlmself and stare. How can we blame the hungry boys if they perchance betrayed Conspicuously the f act that they had stomacba to be staid? Abore the steaming turkey rose the mastar, aSz feot tall, And süence, deep, impressive, feil alike on ane and all. He bowed his head and reverently, In language full and clear, He thanked our great Creator for the blessings of the year. And when the simple prayer was done, tbus the good father spoke: "My children, lt becomes each one his blessing to invoke; Theref ore let each one here thank him for this Thanksgivhig treat. For all thefavors he has shown, and these good thiugs to eat." With trembling voice and reverent air each pkras one bowed low And thanked our Heavenly Father great that he had bl-.'Ssvd them bo, For all the goed things, and their home, to them a hallcive 1 spot, Until it cair.e to little Bob, the smallest of the lot. And thus he spoke, his head bowed down, whilo round he glanced an eye: "I fank thee for the turkey and the gweat big chicken pie; I fank thee for the other flngs"- at this prospect oC bliss He paused. r.id thra- "say, Kamma, pleasö, ■n'ats coinin' after thisf"
