An Engineer's Sad Death
New York, Nov. 27. - Engineer Truex, of the Krie railroad, met a terrible death at Ridgewood Junction, N. J., early Monday morning, throuh a temporary aberration of bis mind consequent upon a dreadful affliction to bis little family. Noarly all bis little children had been buried within the last week, and bis wife lay at home dangerous ilL The stern demands of duty, nevertheless, compe lied bim to run nis engine as usual. At Ridgewood he stopped for train orders, and leaving his engine, started for the telegragh office. His mind wasfilled witb boundless griei for his dead children, and he failed to detect the near approach of a lumbering freight train going in another direction. The engine struck him and the wheels ground out his life, leaviug his suffering wife to bear the crushing loss of almost the entire family. She may not sustain the shock.
