Tlie residencö of Mrs. Mary Biiss on Washtenaw avenue was destroyed by fiie at three o'clock last Saturday morninsc. The fiie caught iu the woodwork around the chimney and had probably been burmng for some hours before discovered, as the smell of burning piuft nad been noticed Friday af ternoon. Six stoves discharged their smoke throuÊth one small chimney. The fire finally broke out in Mrs. Bliss' bedroom and wheu discovered was beyond control, A law student, who roomed in the house, without waiüug todress, ran to give the fire alarm and lost all his posessions. Mrs. Bliss was unable to save anything. The roomers in the house had scarcely time to save their wearing apparel. The loss on house and furniture was $3,000 insured for $2,300.
