The new county officers who take their places next Tuesay are highly praised this week by the Ann Arbor 3ourier, which did its best to defeat them at the last election. This tardy acknowledgement of their many good qualities is probably on the principie of better late than never. But, that our democratie readers may know what good officials they voted for according a republican testimony, we synopsize he Courier's words of praise. Sheriff D wyer, it says, "stands high in the estimation of the people of the county and will no doubt perform the dutiea of lis important position well." Judge J. WillardBabbitt"willdoubtless make a wise and upright Judge." Probate Register Doty, "has filled his position well and is universally liked for his many sterling qualities. Register Seerey will succeed a painstaking official, and no better wish can be made for him than that he may do as well and the Courier believes he will. Treasurer Brehm is "a worthy successor to one of the most popular treasurers wuo nas ever held the office." 'rosecuting Attorney Lehman "has not a lazy hair in his head; energetic and persevering he will keep the legal jusiness of the county well in hand.'' Circuit Court Commissioner McKernan s "a first rate commissioner and an aecommodating official." We advise hese officials to paste these commendatory words in their hats, for fear the Jourier's words will not be so honied ;wo years from now when they come up for reelection. And all the same, Mr. Courier, we propose to use y our words in assisting these gentlemen to get a large majority when candidates or re-election .
