The losstís by fire in the United States for the year have not beeu as large as they were in 1887. Thera have been 10 fires where the loss in each was $100,000 or more. and seven where it was not 1 ss than 1, 000,000. Philadelphia, Jan. 2:3, and New York, Jan. :-0, the loss in each case was $1,500,000. The total for each month in the year is given below.
