Boating Popular On Barton Pond: Ann Arbor township has no legitimate lakes, but the large ponds in the Huron River, created by Detroit Edison Co. dams, provide a substitute. Sailboating is a popular evening and weekend activity on Barton Pond, shown here. The Barton Boat Club, 20 years old next year, sponsors races on the pond almost every Sunday. There is some ice-boating during the winter, and fishing is also popular.
