Their Care's At Stake: Days are busy and varied at local day care centers. When we visited Bethel AME Church Day Care Center for picture taking sessions this past week, director Gwendolyn Dixon was taking the children in batches of three to the dentist. In the morning the remaining children were inside--painting, playing records, tumbling about in the playhouse. Later in the afternoon, they bundled up for a romp in the cool sunshine. A wagon was the focus of attention for Brian Peck, top left, Conrad Moore, top right, and for Walter Greene and Tia Hunter, bottom left. At center left, Walter, hair flying, just took off on the run. And David Dale, above and at right, found the snow suitable both for munching and lying in. But the existence of Bethel AME Day Care Center and several others is now threatened by anticipated cuts in city funding.
