Bon Voyage - Mayor Edward (center in above picture, with paper), (this photo), introduces Sister City delegates at Sunday's sendoff party. From left: Mary Lee Pierce, Katherine Eckroad, Lise Anderson, James Eckroad, Jim Ringold, Gregory Fox, Ernestine Rodrigues Spruce, Pierce, Perry Bullard, Thomas Rieke, Kurt Berggren, Joyce Chesbrough, Alan Wald, Joel Goldberg and the Rev. Virginia Peacock. Not shown are LeRoy Cappaert and Ellen Rusten. Gabriel Delahaye (below) points out the location of the sister city of Juigalpa, in Nicaragua. The delegation departs Saturday for Nicaragua and is scheduled to return to Ann Arbor on Nov. 10. About 130 persons attended Sunday's sendoff, held at the St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church parish hall. The sister city arrangement, Ann Arbor's newest, results from a resolution voters passed last April. The resolution also condemns U.S. policy in Central America.
