Six Decades Later: These chunks of plaster (above), removed from the pillar (below), at St. Thomas Catholic Church during a current renovation project, have revealed aspects of life in southeastern Michigan at the turn of the century. The papers were used to hold wet plaster in place on the columns when the church was built. The exposed steel grillwork of the pillar is seen in the picture below.
