NINE SONS ATTEND TO MILAN COUPLE'S GOLDEN WEDDING CELEBRATION: When Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Kanitz of Milan celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage Saturday, their nine sons were among the guests. Standing behind the honored couple in the order of their age, oldest to youngest, from left to right, are: Walter, of Alma; Elby, of London township; Clarence, of Milan; Sylvan, of London township; Frank, of Milan; Arthur, of London township; Loyal of York township; Joseph, of Dayton, O.; and Theral, of Big Rapids. Mr. and Mrs. Kanitz have 26 grandchildren.

$100,000 FIRE SWEEPS THROUGH MILAN FACTORY: An early morning fire in the plant of the Ideal Furnace Co. at Milan destroyed a block long section of the factory today, causing damage estimated upwards of $100,000. Four fire departments fought the blaze for several hours, and the fire was checked at a fire wall separating the burning foundry from other sections of the plant.

Standing on a coke pile, firemen fought a blaze which yesterday afternoon destroyed a 200-foot section of the American Boiler & Foundry Co. plant in Milan. Fire trucks from five communities and two institutions answered the alarm. Explosion of a heating device, used in the welding room, started the fire. No estimate was given as to the total amount of damages.
