The energy needed for an impromptu parade would seem hardly worth the efforts to adults on these hot summer days, but it's a different story with the younger set. About 20 youngsters in the Kenwood Ave. area dressed up in costume, decorated their bicycles and marched around the neighborhood. Despite all the convention activity this week, the parade apparently had no political overtones.

'HAIR-RAISING' RIDE: One of the sights in yesterday afternoon's University student parade through the campus area was this "cave man" seemingly dragging his woman by her hair. The parade, part of "Spring Weekend," fetured carts and floats with a cartoon motif. Whether this chap represented Alley Oop was not immediately clear to anybody.

BOO! Judith Goldberg of Henderson House became cartoonist Charles Addams' Vampira during yesterdays' parade. The weekend also included a program of skits last night in Hill Auditorium. An outdoor dance at the women's tennis courts is scheduled for tonight. Proceeds from the weekend will go to the Michigan Association for Retarded Children.
