Tug Of War Winners, Losers. In yesterday's rain the men of Gomberg House in the University's South Quadrangle (left) pulled and pulled for about five minutes in the Homecoming tug of war across the Huron River at Island Park. The Gomberg House team won the tug of war, pulling their opponents, the men of Taylor House (right) [this photo] in South Quadrangle, into the river. The tug of war is a traditional Homecoming event.

Home Blocked: The home of Elmer Knox at 1062 Wall St., is one of several in the Wall St. - Island Dr. area inundated by the flooding Huron River today. The fast-moving waters threatened to remove lawns and low-growing shrubs as their path paralleled the parent stream. The Weather Bureau promised no new rains, at least for the next 48 hours. Winds, which dry watersheds, are expected to become brisk today.
