Siss-Boom-Ah! Top picture illustrates how the fireworks last night looked close-up at Buhr Park. Those who didn't want to buck the crowd (bottom picture) saw the bursts of color from a "comfortable" distance, as, for example, a News photographer's location in the open space at Spring St. and Sunset Rd. He took a time exposure (middle picture). Tens of thousands enjoyed the spectacle.

Police estimate that about 25,000 people watched the Fourth of July fireworks display in the immediate vicinity of Buhr Park Saturday night and that possibly another 10,000 viewed it from vantage points farther away. This is News' Photographer Doug Fulton's composite picture of a variety of the bursts which brightened the night sky and added gaiety to the local observance. The Spirit of '76 Club, a group of Ann Arbor merchants, sponsored the event.
