Storm downs power lines: Parts of the city were without electrical power twice during Memorial Day storms which swept Michigan and the Midwest. Above, fallen power lines (left center and extreme right) on Kellogg St. "spark" in the rear yard of the Cecil H. Molkentien residence, 1223 Wright St., badly burning a cherry tree-(center background). These lines and others downed in the area by lightning late yesterday morning cut off electricity for many northside homes before servicemen could repair the damage.

Twister Bowls Over Trees: The Robert Gilbert home at 8300 Marshall Rd, Scio Township, was battered by a hedge-hopping twister last night. Neighbors survey the damage (top) caused by one of 10 large trees blown over by the funnel of wind crashed down on the home's porch. Gilbert (bottom) looks at another of the trees which cracked off and blocked Marshall Rd. The blow ripped off the roof and doors of a nearby tool shed.
