Dirty Dig: Examining a simulated grave dug into the 16th green at the Ann Arbor Municipal Golf Course are (left to right) S. S. Sproull, city Parks and Recreation Department superintendent; Alfred W. Bauer, department maintenance supervisor; and Patrolman Harold Rady. Sproull said total cost of repairing the hole, which has been filled in, will be about $150. A toy mouse wrapped in paper was found at the bottom of the 2 1/2-foot-deep hole, which was about five feet long and four feet wide. Sproull said those responsible may have thought the act "clever" and added, "I don't. I think it's stupidity." The sod had been cut out carefully, so it was put back in place.

Huron River Floods Onto Municipal Golf Course, March 1950

Ann Arbor News, March 28, 1950

You'd Need A Splashie-Niblick: The usually passive Huron River, goaded by three consecutive days of intermittent rain, overran its banks near Fuller St. and inundated this section of the second nine at the Municipal Golf Course. Green No. 12 is just managing to hold its head above the flood. The city engineer's office said it has assigned three pumps to remove water from basements of homes in the area and to keep the city's sewer from clogging.

Scene of Dazzling Beauty is Equally Puzzling: This could be a view of the silent, shifting Sahara sands stretching soundlessly into secret space. Or it could be a scene of snow-filled splendor surrounding a single sentinel standing stark and stole in the stillness. It's a winter scene taken yesterday near the Municipal Golf Course which just happened to be up to its knickers in snow when the photographer passed.
