Municipal has Driving Net: Golfers who hate to chase their hooks or slices all over the landscape can perfect their swing and rhythm at the Municipal Golf course where J. M. Dand, club manager, has erected a driving cage. Ernie Wright, 117 West Summit St., is shown above practicing his drives in the all-metal cage which is 20 feet long, 10 feet high and 10 feet wide. At the rear of the cage is a padded cushion, on which is inscribed a target. For the privilege of hooking or slicing 35 times it only costs one 25 cents (the charge to take care of the construction of the outfit) and after it is all over one doesn't have to walk more than 20 feet to retrieve the beaten pellets.

Relief for Golfers: As every fall golfer knows, leaves add to his links problem once the trees start to shed. But the leaves covering portions of the Municipal Golf Course leave quickly when exposed to the air currents from this blower arrangement which is used at other times for spraying jobs. Here, the blower is clearing the way along the fourth (old 13th) fairway. The Municipal Course, scene of the recent Washtenaw Open which saw Bob McCormick pick up the title held for three years by Howie Slocum, remains open for business--a fact which can be added to the list of unusual November happenings.

Betty Jane Courtright (right) won medalist honors with a 79. Mary Anne Courtright (left) qualified with 97 while their mother Mrs. Elizabeth Courtright carded 100. The luck of the draw pitted the two Courtright daughters against each other in the first round of match play today. Mrs. Courtright opposed Ruth Carstens in the upper half of the top bracket and, should she win today, will oppose one of her daughters in tomorrow's round.
