"Tarzan and his Apes" float, U-M Michigras Parade, April 1950 Photographer: Eck Stanger

FIRST PRIZE FLOAT: "Tarzan and his Apes," and swimming-suit clad damsels (they were wishing for ski suits) awaiting their fate in a "boiling kettle" were characterized in yesterday's Michigras parade by Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and Delta Delta Delta sorority to win first place among parade floats. Palm trees, flowers, grass and a "cannibal" completed the jungle scene. It wasn't only the threat of being "boiled alive" that made the girls shiver, but the day's chilly breezes as well.
