DIGGING FOR BETTER LIGHTING: A new, streamlined curb lamp post will be set into this hole in a Main St. sidewalk as part of the extensive improvements in Ann Arbor's street lighting which were started yesterday by the Detroit Edison Co. The changes are expected to increase the brightness of the city's lights by almost 70 per cent. Shown reaching into the excavation is Albert J. Genovese of Ann Arbor. Bending over at the right foreground is Clare B. Titus of Rochester, foreman of the project. Standing at the rear, in front of bystander Gilbert Mayfield are Walter C. Malzahn of Utica (left) and Alfred R. Roach of Davisburg.
