INSPECTING THE FIRST WINDBREAKER JERKIN FOR WOMEN IN THE BRITISH SERVICE: The group of Ann Arbor women who have been making jackets of scrap leather for British seamen has started to make the jerkins for women in home defense work and has the first of these jackets for women on display. At the home of Mrs. Charles E. Koella in the Cutting, where the group meets to work each Wednesday afternoon, this original jacket was shown yesterday. From the left above are Mrs. Koella, Mrs. John N. Stalker of Grosse Pointe Shores, and Mrs. Carl Dahlstrom of Horman Ct. Many new workers are sought to help meet the great need for these garments. All materials are supplied without cost, and instruction is given at the weekly open house which is held by Mrs. Koella for all women interested. The jackets may be seen in the windows of the Elizabeth Dillon shop, the C. J. Hutzel shops, Jacobson's, and Slater's book store, also at the Michigan League and at the Woman's Exchange in the Nickels Arcade, where the women's jacket is shown.
