Widow Of Late Methodist Pastor Succumbs
Mrs. Mary Hendrickson Stalker, widow of Rev. Arthur W. Stalker, former pastor of the First Methodist church here, died yesterday at her home, 123 N. State St., following a long illness. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Stalker was born in Ann Arbor May 24, 1861, and spent her early life in this city. Following her marriage to Rev. Mr. Stalker in 1885, she assisted him while he served pastorates in Dixboro, Clinton, Detroit, Sault Ste. Marie and Madison, Wis.
In 1905 Mr. Stalker returned to Ann Arbor as pastor of the First Methodist church, serving the church for 25 years. He died in 1930, a few months after he retired.
Mrs. Stalker is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Miller and Esther Stalker, of Ann Arbor; two sons, Carlton H. Stalker, of Detroit, and George H. Stalker, of Northville; and a sister, Mrs. Grace Foster of Chicago, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Dolph funeral home, with Rev. Charles W. Brashares officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery.
