Allenel Hotel Will Be Headquarters For New Club In City

License Granted By State Liquor Control Commission

Announcement was made today of the organization of a new Ann Arbor Town Club which will be lodged in second floor quarters in the Allenel Hotel.

James Dougherty and Henry Cherron, both of Brighton, will be the managers of the club, which will be limited to 250 members, all of whom must be 26 years old or over. Membership in the club will be by invitation only. Mr. Dougherty is the proprietor of the Fonda Lake Inn and Mr. Cherron proprietor of the Brighton bowling alleys.

Three rooms are now in the process of conversion into lounges for the club, and the managers estimate the clubrooms will be ready in three weeks. The state liquor control commission granted the club a license yesterday

The club will be organized along the lines of the old Town and Gown club which was popular approximately 20 years ago. Many of the founders of this club have moved to other cities and the last club meeting was held nearly seven years ago. The new club is expected to unite in downtown business men and professional men representing the University.

A board of directors is in the process of formation, and monthly board meetings will be held.
