Gridleys To Get Airport Lease

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gridley, owners of the Gridley Flying Service and present occupants of the building at the airport, were high bidders with an offer of $215 per month for leasing the buildings, according to a report given members of th city council by Ald. Walter R. Garthe, chairman of the park and cemetery committee. Theirs and a bid from Clarence J. Thurston of $151.05 per month were the only bids received following re-advertising for lessees after the council had rejected all previous bids at its July 3 meeting.

Councilmen concurred in the recommendation of the park and cemetery committee to accept the bid, and voted to authorize City Attorney William Laird to draw up a lease and Mayor William E. Brown, Jr., and City Clerk Fred Perry to sign the lease for the city.
