J. P. Richmond Services
Funeral arrangements for James Paul Richmond, 57, Ann Arbor pilot who died in a plane crash near Marquette yesterday have not been completed, pending arrival of the body here.
Mr. Richmond, who was assistant principal of the Greusel Intermediate School in Detroit, was born April 9, 1890, at Stockbridge, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Richmond.
He was graduated from Ann Arbor High School and from Ypsilanti State Normal College. He earned his master’s degree at Columbia University and also studied meteorology at the University of Michigan.
A veteran of World War I, Mr. Richmond served as meteorologist in the Signal Corps from May 23, 1918, to March 7, 1919. In 1914 and 1915 he was a teacher in the Philippine Islands.
He was a member of the Masonic order and was unmarried.
Surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Minnie B Hague, of Ann Arbor township; Mrs. Maude Henshaw, of Detroit, Mrs. A. M. Long, of Detroit; Mrs. Earl French, of Mattawan; Mrs. F. R. Innes, of South Orange, N. J.; and Mrs. Lewis Faling, of Jackson.
Other survivors include four brothers, Bernard E., of Ann Arbor; Lloyd, of Peoria, Ill.; E. S., of Flint, and George, of Jackson.
