Pastor’s Widow Dies in Ypsilanti Husband Was Minister Of Emmanuel Lutheran YPSILANTI ̶ Mrs. Elizabeth A. Fenker, 72, a widow of the late Hugo Fenker, pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church here for 32 years, died yesterday afternoon at her home, 1111 Sherman St., after a lingering illness. Born Oct. 23, 1881, in Detroit, Mrs. Fenker was a daughter of Herman and Augusta Wenzel Borske. She married the Rev. Mr. Fenker Aug. 29, 1907, in Detroit. He died Dec. 3, 1944, after the membership of Emmanuel Lutheran Church had increased from 125 to 800 under his leadership. Mrs. Fenker organized the Altar Guild of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and was its leader for many years. She also organized the church’s first junior choir. Was State President She served six years as president of the Michigan District of the American Lutheran Church’s Women’s Missionary Federation. She was also a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the Mary-Martha Missionary Society and the Ladies Aid Society. Survivors are a daughter, Elizabeth E. (Betty) Fenker, Ypsilanti city clerk; two sons, Ted E., an Ypsilanti city councilman, and Luther H., director of the PedFord Chorus; and three grandchildren, Robert B., Barbara A. and Gary H. All live in Ypsilanti. She also is survived by a brother and two sisters in Detroit and several nieces and nephews. Services Set Monday Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the Rev. Harley C. Sipe officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Moore Funeral Home here until 11 a.m. Monday, then at the church from Monday noon until the time of services. The family suggests that friends may contribute in Mrs. Fenker’s memory to the Capital University School of Music Expansion Fund at Columbus, O., an institution of which the late Rev. Mr. Fenker was a graduate. Contributions may be made through Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
