Mrs. Allie Calkins
Mrs. Allie Wilsey Calkins, 93, a lifelong Ann Arbor resident and widow of E. E. Calkins, a former Ann Arbor druggist, died Thursday evening at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a long illness. Her home was at 1004 E. University Ave.
She was born Nov. 15, 1866, in Ann Arbor, a daughter of Alvin and Jennie Sheldon Wilsey. On Dec. 23, 1889, she was married to Mr. Calkins. He preceded her in death in 1946. He was formerly a member of the firm of Calkins-Fletcher Dug Store for 38 years.
Mrs. Calkins was a member and an honorary steward of the First Methodist Church, a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the church and of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lewis S. Ramsdell of Ann Arbor; a son, Paul S. Calkins of Farmington; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Muehlig Chapel. The Rev. L. Burlin Main will officiate. Burial will be made in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel Friday evening and until the time of services Saturday.
