Manager Appointed For Research Park
C. Robert Spensley, 36, of Sarasota, Fla., has been appointed manager of Research Park development, it was announced today by William J. Bott, manager of the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce and executive director of the 210-acre park at the city’s south side.
Spensley’s newly - created, full-time position is an added effort by the Greater Ann Arbor Research Park Inc. (GAARP) for continuing development of the park with industrial research installations.
Spensley’s job includes Research Park development and administration of all aspects of programming.
The new manager will also seek support of individuals, state and local agencies, both public and private, in promotion of the Research Park program, and he will provide continuing service to prospective and committed park customers.
“The position also carries an associated responsibility with the general interest of the Chamber and no opportunities should be neglected which would promote the broader interest of community economic and industrial development,” Bott said.
Spensley, a former Ypsilanti resident, advanced to advertising specialist—administration while with Ford Motor Co. between 1950 and 1957. While with Ford’s Lincoln-Mercury Division, Spensley also served on the finance staff, in sales administration and as administrative manager of a field sales office.
He was with Chrysler Corporation’s Export Division, 1957-59, serving that firm in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, for one year as an administrative assistant to a regional executive.
Spensley, who will take up his new post in about three weeks, has for the past Vh years been managing properties he owns in Florida.
He is a 1950 graduate of Miami University of Oxford, 0., a World War II veteran, and is married and father of five sons. He and his family plan to move to Ann Arbor.
