Officials of Washtenong Memorial Park have donated to the Sheriff's Department a bronze plaque in memory of a deputy killed last August in the line of duty.
The memorial lists the name of Deputy Leo Borders who was killed Aug. 3 during a high-speed chase at Portage Lake.
Roscoe Flack, manager of the Ann Arbor Township cemetery, and Ethel Shaffer, secretary, presented the plaque recently to Sheriff Douglas J. Harvey. It has been placed on a wall at the entrance to the jail beside similar plaques displayed in honor of the late Erwin L. Klager and Jacob B. Andres. Both served as sheriff of Washtenaw County.
