One Of Her Last Duties
Mrs. Luella M. Smith, who in her 29 years as Washtenaw County clerk has sworn in scores of officials, performed her last official act last night by swearing in 70 sheriff’s deputies in the County Building. Sheriff Douglas J. Harvey, center, foreground, was sworn in separately by Mrs. Smith after the ceremony for his men. Mrs. Smith retires Jan. 1 after a career which spanned 36 years as a county employee.
