Michigan Football Coach Bo Schembechler has received hundreds of congratulatory telegrams, telephone calls and handshakes in the last 72 hours but nothing moved him more, he said, than a letter from Fritz Crisler.
"It was the greatest thing I got," said Schembechler who heard from numerous coaches both in and out of the Big Ten, from an alumnus as far away as London, from Gov. William Milliken and the University of Texas which has replaced Ohio State as the nation's top-ranked team.
"It was a great letter. He is a great man," said Schembechler about Crisler who has been a patient at University Hospital but is now at home.
