State OKs Ann Arbor School Bonds
Attorney General Frank J. Kelley, chairman of the Municipal Finance Commission, announced today the commission approved $12,900,000 of “1971 School Building and Site Bonds” for the Ann Arbor School District.
Kelley said the proceeds will be used to defray the cost of erecting, furnishing and equipping three new elementary school buildings, additions to existing elementary school buildings, additions to the Slauson and Tappan Junior High School Buildings, an addition to the main library building and a new service building.
The funds will also be used for remodeling, refurnishing and re-equipping existing elementary school buildings and junior high school buildings; for acquiring additional elementary school sites and additional lands for existing school sites; and for developing existing school sites and the new school sites.
The bonds were authorized by voters of the school district on June 14 are unlimited tax bonds and will run until 1997.
“The school district is authorized to levy whatever taxes are necessary to pay principal and interest,” Kelley said.
