Handy, James C. Jr.
Saline, MI
Age 74, died Tuesday, June 25, 1991 at Saline Community Hospital. He was born May 1, 1917 in Plainwell, Michigan, the son of James C. and Mae C. (Johnson) Handy Sr. He was a Saline resident since 1962, moving here from Ann Arbor, Michigan. On September 25, 1938 in Angola, Indiana he married Ada M. McBride and she preceded him in death on January 29, 1978. He then married Jane Engel on July 10, 1981 in Grass Lake, Michigan and she survives. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Saline, Michigan, and served as Church Treasurer. Mr. Handy had worked for the King-Seeley Corporation in Ann Arbor which later became Chrysler Corporation, as controller for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Army Air Force, serving during World War II. In addition to his wife Mr. Handy is survived by two sons, James C. Handy III of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Anthony J. Handy and his wife Denise of Stockton, California; four daughters, Mrs. Larry (Maureen) Lochey of Manchester, Michigan, Mrs. James (Nancy) Marion of Saline, Michigan, Mrs. Becky Lindemann of Saline, Michigan, Mrs. Gary (Mary) DiGiuseppe of Fort Dodge, Iowa; one step-son Robert Engel and his wife Joan of Saline. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and eight-step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Robert Handy. Funeral services will be Friday, June 28, 1991 at 10:30 am from the First Assembly of God Church in Saline, Michigan, with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may begin calling on Thursday 4-9 pm at the ROBISON-BAHNMILLER FUNERAL HOME and also from 9:30 until time of service at the First Assembly of God Church, Saline, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church or to Arbor Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
