Pall Corp. closes Scio Township manufacturing facilities, cuts 300 local jobs

In June, New York-based medical-device maker Pall Corp. said it would close the manufacturing operations it runs in Scio Township over the ensuing 12 months. Pall is located on Wagner Road west of Ann Arbor.

The company said about 100 commercial services staff would remain here. The announcement marked the second time in two years that Pall trimmed its local workforce. Two years earlier, it had cut 25 workers from an estimated 450.

The move was part of a plan to cut 10 percent of Pali’s global work force and consolidate operations across a number of facilities with the aim of saving $40 million.

The local operation made filters for IVs and syringes, among other products.

Pall said affected workers could find work at other Pall sites, or could accept a severance package and job placement services.
