Abundant Pure Water
Mayor Charles H. Manly was on Wednesday elected commander of :he Soldiers' Home in Grand Rapids ay the board of managers in Lansing. The position will require lim to remove from this city and :or the next two years the mayor will be a resident of Grand Rapids. ríe has much work before him, for the Soldiers' Home, from all accounts, has been greatly lacking in the needed discipline. The mayor will make an excellent commander. The salary of the office is $1500 a year besides the living of thejcommander and family. It will be seen that this is one of the best paying of the state offices. It will probably necessitate the removal of the mayor rom the city before the expiration of his term of office, in which case the president of the council, F. A. riowlett, will become acting mayor.
