Harris sentenced to life in murder of elderly woman

LANSING — Michael D. Harris convicted of murdering two elderly Lansing women, was sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole.
Harris, 20, was sentenced by Ingham County Circuit Judge Robert Holmes Bell for the December 1981 strangulation of Denise Sanson, 78, of Lansing. Harris was sentenced last spring to 60 years for the assault and rape of a 68-year-old Jackson woman.
He has also been found guilty of the November 1981 murder of Eula Curdy, 83, who lived just three blocks from Mrs. Swanson. Mrs. Curdy's throat was cut and she had been raped, authorities said.
Detectives from Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti have said that Harris is the prime suspect in the fall, 1981 slayings of Louise Koebnick, 84, of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti resident, Margorie Upson, 85.
