Thousands of Tulips: Mrs. Carl H. Pagel of 9154 Main St., Whitmore Lake, works in her backyard tulip garden. The garden, which contains some 2,000 tulip plants, is believed to be one of the largest, if not the largest private planting of tulips in the area. Tulip bulbs should be planted in the fall in moist soil, and fertilized the following spring after the leaves start growing.
