Ypsilanti Soldier's Ship Due In Sunday

YPSILANTI – Pfc. Robert W. Fletcher, first and only soldier from Washtenaw County, Michigan to be repatriated thus far in the Korean war prisoner exchange will return to San Francisco, Calif., Sunday aboard the transport Gen. Nelson M. Walker.

Fletcher, 21, is the son of Mrs. Mae Woodson of 1052 Monroe Ave. He is one of 328 released prisoners of war en route home in the ship.

Fletcher attended Ypsilanti High School until his enlistment in the Army in April, 1950. He served with the 24th Division, the same unit in which his father, the late Charles E. Fletcher, and an uncle, Robert Fletcher, served in World War I.

He has three sisters living in Ypsilanti and another in Cleveland, O. He also has two brothers, one in Ann Arbor and the other in Ypsilanti
