Several citizens and. representatives of the Public Housing Tenants Association told the Ann Arbor Board of Education last night that something has to be done about the busing of students from public housing areas to schools. One mother said her daughter could not attend school on the days the family did not have enough money to send 1 ' ' ■Tier on Ann Arbor Transportation Authority buses. She added this was especially frustrating because a school bus which was only partially fiüed passed by their house each day going to the same school. Another speaker requested that the board make a cost estimate for the busing of students from Pontiac Heights. o o The board authorized the transfer of $17,821.66 from the contingency fund to cover the additional cost for relocating and repairing the required number of portable classrooms for the 1970-71 year. o o i An easement was granted by the board to the Michigan Bell Telephone Co. on the Pioneer High School site to allow the placement of equipment. o o Approval of Beckett, son, Raeder, Inc., to develop a master site plan for Hurón I High School was made by the board. The landscape itect firm will be retained to consolídate all of the needs plus other recommendations into one master site plan. o o The interested Citizens Enterprise (ICE) was given approval by the board to lease property on the Pioneer High School site 'm order to construct and opérate an enclosed ice rink. The lease would run for 50 years with an option for renewal. ICE is a Michigan non-profit corporation.
