All-White Club Loses Huron Grid Banquet
Because of the exclusion of blacks from its membership, the Moose Lodge was rejected last night as the location of the annual Huron High School Football Banquet. Charles Moody, chairman of the Black Curriculum Commission, expressed the commission's concern over the scheduling of an event at a place which did not adhere to the standards of the Board of Education's Affirmative Action Plan. Speaking last night at the board meeting Moody requested the superintendent to reschedule the banquet at another location. The superintendent answered that he had been made aware of the situation earlier that day and had already taken action. The banquet has been canceled and I wil1 be rescheduled at another location, said School Supt. R. Bruce McPherson. It had been planned for Nov. 10 at the Moose Lodge.
