Two proposals for altërnat i v e educational programs were approved by the Ann Arbor Board of Education last night. One program, The Stepping-Stone School, will be available to 20 junior high school students "who cannot adjust to a full program in the public schools. The program will also be jointly administered by the Washtenaw Youth Services Bureau of the Intermediate School District aria the Family Group Homes for Youth Inc., a non-prof it organization. The second program approved is with the Model Cities Community Skills Center for a school experience designed to accommodate 30 full time secondary students who have demonstrated an unwillingness to attend regular school. It will serve the students in the Model Cities Neighborhood who also need tutorial services to boost their ■ skills and to help dropouts return to school. The Stepping-Stone program will receive a financial commitment of $16,850 from the Ann Arbor schools and the Skills Center program will receive authorization of school credit and funds for textb o o k s . The Stepping-Stone program will be given school credit and both programs will also enable students to move back i n t o some full-time school programs.
