The Ann Arblr Board of Education held one of the briefest formal meetings in its history last night following a two-hour informal briefing session. The formal meeting lasted less than 15 minutes. Attending the meeting were Board President Joseph R. Julin, and trustees Hazen Schumacher, William Godfrey, Joseph T. A. Lee, Charles H. Good, Richard M. Wood and Ted Heusel. Trustees Harold J. Lockett and Paul.H. Johnson were absent. r o o ' At its formal session, the board accepted the resignations of Mrs. Patricia Dewdney, reference librarían who is moving to Canada; Mrs. Mariene Shubel, Pioneer High School English teacher who has joined the Peace Crops to serve in Central America; and Miss Julia Ward, public schools social) worker who has received a new position at the University. o o Extensión of two leaves of absence were granted at the formal session. Hamilton Morningstar, an industrial arts teacher at Tappan Junior High School was granted extensión of a leave of absence to cover the first semester of the coming school year for health reasons. Mrs. Pearl Franzblau, a teacher at Lakewood Elementary School, was granted extensión of a leave of absence for the 1968-69 school year for health reasons. o o Supt. W. Scott Westerman Jr., invited board members to a breakfast at 8 a.m. on Aug. 29 in Pioneer High School to greet new staff members at the school. o o Mrs. Elizabeth Kummer, Ann Arbor League of Women Voters program chairman, asked the board's cooperation in updating the league's booklet "Know Your Town." She requested data on the public schools, including financing, programs, and other factual information.
