I VOTERS REJECT CAREER CENTER . I Planning District coördinator for the j I WISD, said local school districts will ' I continue with a shared time program I which allows students from one school I district to take a vocational course in I another district, but added, "With transI porta tion costs and no financial base, I I have real doubts about how successful I we'llbe '. I About $7,600 was sgent on the informaI tional campaign prior to the election, acI cording to WISD officials. A telephone I campaign, direct mailings and advertisements in the news media were part o thecampaign. I Eight of the 10 school districts within the WISD contributed a total of about $6, 000 to the campaign. School districts not contributing money were Whitmore Lake which opposed thecareer center, and Ann Arbor, which has a policy of not spending operating funds for millage campaigns. There was no vocal, organized opposition to the proposed career center to serve 2,400 high school students f rom the 10 school districts. ■ Aftpr the results were tallied night, Gilbert, who directed the campaign, said, "You can't win all of them I but it would be nice to_win_on' ' I
