Visiting Circuit Judge Harold Van Domelen this morning ruled there was no legal basis for enjoining 15th District Judge S. J. Elden, who is seeking election to the Circuit Court, from making reference in his campaign advertising to his decision of last month that the Ann Arbor marijuana ordinance was unconstitutional. Judge Van Domelen's ruling came at the conclusion of a hearing on a lawsuit filed last week by local attorney Arthur Carpenter, which contended certain ads connecting Judge Elden's candidacy for higher office to his controversial anti-pot decision were in violation of the Judicial Canons of Ethics.
