First Methodist Church After Snowfall Photographer: Duane Scheel
Year:
1966
Published In:
Ann Arbor News, December 10, 1966
Caption:
The predicted nine inches of snow may not appeal to motorists, but it does give such locations as the First Methodist Church on State St. a Christmas card like-appearance. Continued cold temperatures should keep the ground white and Ann Arborites in holiday spirits.

Old First Methodist Church Demolition - Piles of Debris Along State St, November 1940 Photographer: Eck Stanger
Year:

Published In:
Ann Arbor News, November 21, 1940

DESTRUCTION FOR CONSTRUCTION: That's what a pile of rubble and wreckage means in Ann Arbor. In the foreground of this picture are the "ruins" of a House of God. But the careful hands of workmen pulled the edifice down, not the wanton violence of bombs pounding non-military objectives. And beyond the wall of the old church proudly stands the new, its roof pointing up to peaceful Ann Arbor skies. In Europe, this rubble would say "Bombers."
