NORTHSIDE SKATER SCORES GOAL IN 'SANDLOT' PLAY: The pond on the US-12 cutoff just off Broadway yesterday afternoon saw some lively hockey when neighborhood youths took advantage of the perfect ice. Here the lad nearest the camera is shown making a score with the puck near the top of the goalie's stick. The players had their own goals and when children approached to skate the boys picked up their cages and moved out.

Backyard Hockey: One of the most popular spots in the neighborhood these days is the backyard of the Archie Kennedy home at 832 Duncan St. Flooding operations have resulted in a skating rink about 40 by 60 feet in size. Lights have been installed and homemade hockey goals are in place so that the game can be played day or night.
