Martha Buhr Hahn & Son, Joseph, Look At Christmas Garden At Cobblestone Farm, December 17, 1977 Photographer: Larry E. Wright
Year:
1977
Published In:
Ann Arbor News, December 17, 1977
Caption:
Martha Buhr Hahn and her year old son Joseph (left) look over an illuminated "Christmas Garden" at Cobblestone farm. The garden, complete with miniature homes, churches, a farm, a working water wheel and fountain, highlighted Cobblestone Farm Association's recent " Country Christmas" celebration. The Christmas garden became a custom in many German homes in Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County as each generation added to the original display set under the Christmas tree. Mrs. Hahn and Joseph are direct descendants of Joseph Frank Buhr, founder of the Buhr Machine Tool Co., which donated the land for Buhr Park to the city. Also enjoying the garden are members of Girl Scout Troop 30 (right) dressed in old-fashioned garb. They are: Jennifer Pierce, Sara Arscott, Barb Loos, Stacey Sutfin and Traci Burmley.
