Counting Contributions Keeps Them Busy - Sheriff's Detective Lt. Stanton L. Bordine, left, and Sheriff's Youth Bureau Sgt. Robert C. Britton, are busy these days counting up toys and checks in the aftermath of the first annual "Pig Bowl" football game. Sgt. Britton is holding a four-foot-high Christmas stocking containing toys which was donated by a local woman to "Pig Bowl" receipts. Bordine is standing beside a "pig poster" being distributed by an Ann Arbor businessman which contains the signatures of all deputies and city policemen who played in the game last Sunday afternoon.

Aw Come On, 'Fuzz' - The Ann Arbor Police Department's mascot, "Fuzz", showed he had a goat's mind of his own at yesterday's "Pig Bowl" when Patty Bland (left) and Charlene Ruppert, leading the cheers for the city police, attempted to lead him to the bench. Miss Bland, who on weekdays is a District Court clerk, and Mrs. Ruppert, a records clerk for the Police Department, finally coaxed "Fuzz" to the bench. The unidentified man at the right was reported to be a professional football scout searching for talent. But he left after the first half with a headache, one source said. Game story on Page 1. Pig Bowl Trophy - A Pig Bowl Trophy, sufficiently bruised and battered, will be presented to the winner of tomorrow's football contest between the Ann Arbor City Police Department and the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Deputies. The trophy is an authentic pig-slopping can, said donor Glenn Sakcriska. It dates back to 1913 when it originally was a cream can for a dairy farm in northern Michigan. Shown are Deputy Tom Kelly at "left end," Sakcriska and City Police Officer Philip M. LaVigne, "right end."

Pig Bowl Proceeds - The first annual Pig Bowl -- a football game between the Ann Arbor Police Department and the Sheriff's Department to be played Sunday on Briggs Field at Eastern Michigan University -- has already produced toys and money from local persons interested in aiding needy children. Left to right, Police Chief Walter E. Krasny checks with Police Secretary Hildur Wickman money received from the sale of 2,000 tickets for the game; Patrolman David Jachalke, Mrs. Elaine Allen and Lt. Kenneth B. Klinge, all of the Police-Community Relations staff, check over some of the toys to be given to area children at Christmas. (Ann Arbor News Photo by Cecil Lockard)
