Mrs. Edith Osborn of Whittaker had a birthday anniversary Tuesday - her 100th. An open house was held in her honor at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thelma Dysinger of 10946 Whittaker Rd. Mrs. Osborn was born Aug. 20, 1874, in Monroe County's Exeter Township but has lived in the Whittaker area most of her life. She has three children, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter. (News Photo by Cecil Lockard).

Ruthven Now 84: The University's President-Emeritus Alexander G. Ruthven (center) listens to tributes paid him on the occasion of his 84th birthday today. Delivering greetings at the moment is John Weniart, president of the men's organization of the First Methodist Church, while Fred Stevenson also listens. The "birthday party," complete with cake, took place yesterday noon at the club's regular Thursday session. Ruthven was president of the University for 22 years prior to his retirement in 1951.
